About the Authors

We asked Jerome Pohlen and Violet Lemay to send us their photographs to place here. Instead, they sent us this doodle of them riding the El. Maybe this means that they are busy in town searching for more amazing doodles. We do know that lately they have been really active creating books. Jerome is a writer who has written for the Chicago Reader and Time Out Chicago, and he is also the author of Oddball Illinois and more than 20 travel, science, and children’s books. He lives in Chicago. Violet Lemay is an award-wining illustrator who has worked on many children’s books, including Doodle New York, Doodle San Francisco, My Foodie ABC, and New York Baby (A Local Baby Book).
Now, when you think about it, they may be on the lookout for a good Chicago-style hot dog.
